Teegan's whole life pretty much evolved around figure skating these days. By the time she got in most evenings her body ached in the best possible way from the hours spent on the rink, in the dance studio or at the gym. TJ non-stop prepared for the next competition and she was climbing quickly through the ranks, making her name known out there in the skating world. People, including her coach, told her to slow it down and to take a break from time to time, but Teegan was having none of it. Without skating her life felt empty and meaningless and the nineteen year old would only go on a reckless bender if she didn't push herself so hard to be the best on the ice. It had been like this every since the death of her best friend two years ago. Witnessing the accident had messed Teegan up and not even a therapist's couch had been able to make it better. She didn't talk about it and would bite the head off of anyone who even dared to mention it to her. Grieving was not something she had done well and now she was barely a shell of her former self and instead she was just hellbent on being perfect on the ice rink.
After being essentially kicked out of her training rink for the day by her weary coach who was certain that any longer would only result in Teegan getting injured, the young girl had set out on continuing by herself. The rink outside Rockefeller was far from ideal with the crowds of tourists and children stumbling around the edges like baby deer finding their legs for the first time. However, it would have to do. Teegan wasn't due at the dance studio and the gym only served for working on her strength and flexibility. She strapped on her boots and tugged her beanie down over her ears to try and block out some of the noise that came from screaming kids and laughing adults. She grew impatient waiting to get on the ice with nervous first-timers and amateurs teetering slowly to the opening gate in front of her, taking their time to find their balance before slowly moving off. Teegan on the other hand pushed herself away almost instantly, skating out towards the centre and far away from the nervous beginners. The brunette did a quick lap around to get a feel for the ice and then launched herself into the routine she had been practising that morning. Teegan wanted it perfected before the day was done and it was very rare that she never got her way when it came to this. It was a little annoying to have to avoid using the full size of the rink, but Teegan could work with the space in the middle. There were a few other experienced skaters zipping around, but none got in her way.
Teegan worked through the routine a few times, ignoring the people around her and instead listening to the music in her head. It was easier said than done in all honesty, but she was keeping the beat pretty well and when she faltered it meant that it was time to start all over again. She was a perfectionist in almost every area of her life and she needed everything to be just right before she could let it go. She didn't see the harm of it, but the people who cared about her did. She was pushing herself too much at the best of times and blocking out everything else was not a healthy choice either, but no one could get through to the stubborn figure skater. Teegan was in the middle of her routine for the sixth time when she pushed off to perform her triple axel component. She could land them well, neat and tidy, but this time some guy who was pulling out to skate across the rink got in the way of her landing. Teegan was coming down from the jump when she crashed into his back, flooring both of them in an instant and guaranteeing a bruise or two for them to share. However, Teegan only saw red. In her mind it was clear what she was trying to do, clear as crystal, and yet someone had gotten in her way and ruined what had so far been a perfect run through. Sitting on the ice, she shoved the strange man hard, her eyes burning with an intense rage as she glared at this total stranger. “What, are you fucking blind?! Could you not see me skating here?!” She felt it was only common sense to glance around before anyone crossed a rink and there was a system in place for a reason. Right now it didn't matter if this guy had an excuse or not, he either had to find a way to calm Teegan down or he had to deal with her freaking out on him for the next several minutes. If he had any sense he would try to do the first, but there were no promises when it came to the people of New York and Teegan was most unpredictable when she snapped like this.
