SECRETS: He had a whirlwind romance with a girl named Emily who he nearly got engaged to. He broke it off when he caught her with one of his old friends from college.
PERSONALITY: It seems to go without saying, but Kael is very athletic and has been since he was a little kid. He hates having to sit still for too long and most of his days start with some form of exercise or sport. He’s charming, and flirtatious seems to be the primary setting for this guy, especially when he’s at work. He’s not a sleaze in any way, but he doesn’t believe that any harm can come from a coy comment or a subtle compliment; if it leads to something more then it could be a bonus! He’s quite the alpha male and his leadership skills are certainly not lacking in any way. Kael is a team player, but he’s also the first to step up and take control if a situation is getting sloppy or out of control. He’s fun and always up for a laugh, especially when it comes to teasing the friends of his siblings, but that doesn’t mean that he can’t be responsible. He’s proven himself to be serious when the situation requires it from him and if he does something wrong then he isn’t the kind of guy who will try to shift the blame to someone else just to get off lightly. Kael is protective over the people in his life, especially Lottie and especially in New York. He doesn’t want to see anyone he cares about get hurt in any way, least of all her. If someone does hurt anyone he cares about then he’ll be sure to let them know about it, but he’s very controlled about it. He’s also very frank and if he has an opinion on something he’ll share it, even if it’s not necessarily what the other person wants to hear. He just thinks it’s healthier to get everything out in the open at the start rather than let it all simmer below the surface and eventually lead to an all-out screaming match and more issues. He’s a caring man who will even help a stranger in need without asking too many questions. A sweetheart to the right people who can get close enough, there’s pretty much nothing Kael wouldn’t do for someone he cared for. Even though he can handle himself pretty damn well, Kael isn’t a fan of violence outside of the sports he practices. He’s reasonable and would rather that others were, too. He won’t back down when challenged, but he’s also not the first to initiate a random physical brawl. Apparently intimidating the guys Lottie hangs about with is perfectly fine though!

HISTORY: Kael was the first child born to Frankie and Lily, but he can’t remember a time in his life when he was playing the big brother. Gavin came first and the brothers fought like brothers often do, but they still got along, deep down. It wasn’t very long before Charlotte came along, but Kael was only three at the time and “Charlotte” was quite a mouthful for him. He used to call her “Lot” and then it turned into Lottie quickly enough and he happily called her that from that day forth! He loved being a big brother and even though he probably got in the way more times than he was actually useful, he did try his best to be a good big brother.
When their mom died when Kael was just five, his took his big brother role more seriously. It seemed daft, but he always felt terrible about getting those few extra years with Lily, the few extra memories that Gavin and Lottie wouldn’t have. He felt like he had to make it up to them somehow and the only thing he could think of doing was to be there for them, whenever they needed him and drag them along on some of his own little games and adventures. It was how he and Gavin ended up in their respective Martial Arts classes with Lottie joining them at the first chance she had. He loved keeping active and clearing his mind during the classes, slowly adding more classes as his skills grew in the previous. He took up archery to keep Lottie happy and actually found that he enjoyed it more than he planned on. It was more a hobby for his little sister, but he liked having something else that they could do together.
He had always looked out for Lottie, even adding the change from his lunch money to her piggy bank whenever the coast was clear, so that she would have enough to buy the star for their mom. It was little things, but he liked doing them for her and Gavin when he could, if only to take some pressure off his dad, though he knew that the older man did the majority of the heavy lifting in the family.
In school, Kael’s athleticism certainly worked in his favour. He had a good group of friends, was spared any bullying and when high school came about found himself as a quarterback on the football team and on the wrestling team. He was a pretty popular guy, but he never let it ruin the guy he had always been. He still spent time with Lottie, annoyed her and Gavin and enjoyed his teenage years while he had them. It was his football that got him the free ride to the University of Alabama. Like his siblings, Kael’s part time work was at the family restaurant, helping out his dad and earning himself some experience and money to survive during his time at college, coming home when he could to pick up more shifts and earn that little bit more money to support his lifestyle without having to ask his dad over the phone for anything when the new textbooks rolled into the stores with a ridiculous price tag. Kael chose to study marketing and minor in business. He didn’t quite know what he would do with his life, but they seemed like good choices that would open up a number of doors for him.
After college, Kael moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana after he had been offered a job there promoting start up internet businesses as part of a much larger company. It was a dull and kind of tedious job, but every graduate had to start somewhere and the bottom rung of the ladder was usually it. He missed the restaurant, the atmosphere and the liveliness that came with the customers that he was so used to seeing after working there for so many years. However, it was in Fort Wayne that he met Emily and for the first time he found himself believing in love at first sight.
It was kind of a whirlwind romance and at twenty three Kael was whispering those three little words and even thinking of something a little more serious and they had discussed having a future together. He saved up some cash, took a trip to a jeweller and bought an engagement ring. He had it all planned out; romantic evening for him to pop the question and then a trip back to Boulder to introduce her to everyone before Lottie picked her college and moved away. The weekend he had it planned though, one of his college buddies came into town on a surprise trip and ruined the whole idea. Kael told him about it, hoping his old buddy would find a bar for a few hours or hop off early; he was pleased to see him, just not right then! He understood, said he was going to head back to the apartment to grab his things and then be on his way. Kael ran to the florist to get some flowers and thought that his friend would be gone by the time he got upstairs, but he couldn’t have been more wrong. He caught Emily half naked and in the bed with his so called friend and Kael’s world came crashing down.
His heart broken, his doubts flaring, Kael thought it best to call it quits. He had stayed there for Emily and now he had seen the truth about her and broken the nose of someone he once considered his teammate, he had no real reason to stay. He put on a brave face and “visited” home after Lottie had left for New York. Frankie mentioned his concerns frequently enough for Kael to take the hint and, thinking it was partly a hint for him to move on too, grabbed his things, loaded his car and drove out to NYC, waiting at the address he had scribbled down for her until she came home.
He quickly applied for good full-time jobs in the city and soon there was an interest at Gotham for a shared position as the general manager. The owner was impressed with Kael’s past experience with the family restaurant and the graduate work he had done, believing Kael might be good for boosting ideas with the marketing background he had done. He got the job and then it wasn’t long before the other guy who shared the responsibilities with him quit. They were struggling to find someone else to take on the role so Kael offered to do it all. The extra hours didn’t bother him, he enjoyed working there and he had done most of the “behind the scenes” work anyway while the other guy just helped out on the floor. They gave it a trial run and it was successful, so that’s where Kael is in his life now. He spends his free time annoying Lottie or occupying himself with one of his many active hobbies, or he’s at Gotham, working hard, auditioning acts and trying to keep the place as the booming success it always has been!
