PERSONALITY: The only life Nick has ever known is that of wealth though to most people, no one would know this. In public, he tends to keep to himself and doesn't speak to many others unless he knows them though is respectful and seemingly willing to help others. Though he dresses nicely and drives nice vehicles, he doesn't present himself openly as a spoiled rich kid though those that have known him longer have seen touches of this side of him. Despite this, he is intelligent and logical as well as loyal to his friends once someone has gotten that close to him.
Behind the scenes, though, Nick's true nature is a much darker one; he is manipulative, cunning, and vindictive driven by ambition and almost completely self-centered. He will stop at nothing to succeed even if it means crushing his competitors and anyone that stands in his path with is army of lawyers and money. His plans for his fathers company are not something he intends to give up on even if he has to motion for a vote of no confidence through the Board of Directors believing his father is only holding both he and the company back from greatness.MOTHER: carol marion davenport, deceased 2001 (aged 41)

HISTORY: Born in London, Nick lived there with his wealthy family for eight years before relocating to the United States when his father expanded the family business there. He lived the stereotypical rich kid lifestyle and spent time in private school being groomed to take over for his father when he was older. His life was easy and simple for him with his father's money getting him out of any trouble he got into.
At the age of fifteen, he lost the only woman that he loved when his mom succumbed to a long battle with ovarian cancer. The loss of his mother changed both he and his father with the latter becoming stricter and colder and the former becoming closed off to others even his own father. This relationship between the two of them would not improve over the years and the two have grown more and more distant to the point that even calling one another 'son' and 'dad' is sarcasm.
Despite his feelings toward his father and the loss of his mother, Nick went on to attend Oxford and later Harvard, earning an MBA with two minors: one, a Bachelor's Degree, in Psychology and the other, an Associate's Degree in Legal Studies with a focus on Corporate Law. Amid this success was an oversight one night when drinking in England when a flirtatious remark sparked a fist fight with another young man. Though it was accidental, the fight resulted in the death of the other man and Nick would have gone to jail had his father not stepped in with his money sending in a cop that would cover everything up and make sure any witnesses were compensated. Effectively, this even has been swept under the rug though there have been reporters from time to time that like to dig too deep and have to be paid off.
Having accomplished success from such accredited universities, he was then taken on as executive vice president in his father's company, directly beneath his father the CEO and seemingly doing anything he can for his dad. Unbeknownst to his father, he is actively plotting to set him up for failure and have him voted down as CEO so that he can take over and move the company in a direction that he feels will be more profitable.

To say that Nicholas Davenport hated his father would be like describing the Taj Mahal as simply nice. The two had never been entirely close, but had at least been civil with one another during Nick's childhood though after the death of his mother, their relationship became even more strained. Recently, they could hardly speak to one another without sarcastic, hurtful remarks and it was clear to anyone that knew either of them that they disliked one another with a passion. The difference between the two of them was that Gabriel wanted to see his son become a man like himself and take over the reigns of the company after he retired while Nick sought to remove his father from the picture in order to turn a larger profit in military contracts.
Nick's plan was a dangerous one since, if he were ever found out by his father or his father's confidants, he risked disinheritance; despite the reality of it all, the young man saw it as a necessary evil. His grandfather had created the company when he opened his first chemical processing plant in Scotland and his own father expanded it when he opened a steel mill just outside of Atlanta. Unlike his grandfather, though, Nick's father had stopped desiring to grow the family business any further than the East Coast of the United States and his only heir saw it as weakness and indication that the man wasn't fit to be CEO any longer.
Sitting in his New York office overlooking Rockefeller Plaza, Nick sipped some coffee while reading over recent production reports from their New York plant. They'd been having some issues there as of late with management and he believed it was time to fire someone and replace them with more of a visionary, though his father protested. Despite his own wishes and as much as he hated to admit it, his father was still majority owner and CEO of the company. Even if Gabriel was removed as CEO, the shares would only pass down to Nick upon the older man's demise and not even Nick, as cold as he was, could think of his father dying. He'd already lost one parent early in life and even if their relationship wasn't a good one, he was grateful for what he did have.
With a sigh, he laid the folder down and picked up the phone to call his father to once again ask for his assistance with the failing plant. Rather than speak of lacking management skills, he felt it more appropriate and probably effective to appeal to his wallet and speak of lost profits. The only catch was that the folder on Nick's desk was the original and profits, while they'd declined, weren't plummeting but the young Davenport wasn't the only man in the company seeking to have Gabriel removed and the reports his father would be seeing were modified to show a much more substantial loss.
When he hung up the phone with his outraged father, he smiled pleased with himself. His father would never know the difference in the reports and the plant manager would be removed by the afternoon. Everything was slowly falling into place and the crafty young man couldn't help but beam as he shredded the only copy of the true report into his waste bin beside his mahogany desk.
