IMOGEN KATELYN ROSE LANCASTER
FULL NAME: Imogen Katelyn Rose Lancaster.
NICKNAMES: Immy.
AGE: twenty-four.
SEXUALITY: straight.
STATUS: single
GROUP: citizen
GRADE: N/A.
MAJOR: N/A
JOB OCCUPATION: Freelance journalist and crafter.
HAIR: dark blonde, just past her shoulders and usually styled with a gentle wave, topped up with highlights from time to time. She usually wears it simple and down, but sometimes she curls it.
EYES: green.
SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: Not many
TATTOOS: She has “I smiled – for what had I to fear?” under her right breast and then “Quoth the Raven, ‘Nevermore’” accompanied by a raven’s shadow on her left shoulder blade. The first is a reminder of her own mantra of smiling and taking everything in her stride.
PIERCINGS: Lobes once
PLAY-BY: Hilarie Burton!
LIKES: baggy shirts, white wine, San Francisco, heels, nightclubs, writing, lazy girl days, Edgar Allan Poe, the beach, cocktails, growing flowers, baking, her 1963 Mercury Comet, giraffes, acoustic music, brown coats, playing guitar, nail polish, waistcoats, bad late night movies, swimming, summer, gardening, spring cleaning (but not her desk), night time, shopping, curling up with a good book, crafting, DIY, candles, strawberry scented bath products.
DISLIKES: fights, judgemental people, baseball, bad karaoke nights, hangovers, too many throw pillows, tans that look orange, overgrown gardens, people who pave over their yards, cinnamon, overbearing perfume scents, warm alcohol, being injured, snakes, girls who wear shorts that show their asses, being in trouble, smoking, denim on denim, dealing with bills, stubbing her toe, TV reruns, men with mullets, guns, black olives, bad chat up lines.
FEARS: her family finding out where she is, failing at being on her own and with her career, flying.
SECRETS: She changed her name to Lancaster so that her family would have a harder time tracking her down after she ran away from LA. She tells people she just opted for a fresh start but that she talks to them regularly when the truth is that she’s cut herself off from them entirely.
PERSONALITY: At first glance, Imogen seems like quite the polite young woman, which she is, but there are two sides to her depending on the company she is in! She’s creative loving arts, crafts and writing, but was always told to keep those as her hobbies and focus on something more practical; like business or mathematics. She’s simple not really wanting a lot out of her life, so long as she can be happy and healthy, but played the role of businesswoman for her father when she lived in LA. Imogen can also be very spontaneous. She’s the girl who will drag someone to a party at the last second, or decide to head out of town for a weekend of reckless behaviour and all around partying. She loves to have a good time, but knows the importance of keeping that life away from her daily life. She’s secretive and has always been keeping something from someone. She’s easy to get along with though and very friendly believing that everyone deserves a chance, at least. She’s not a fighter, but she’s not someone to push around either. Imogen can stand up for herself and anyone else she thinks needs it, but rarely resorts to physical violence. She’s a dreamer with an airy approach to most things, but she’s got to grow up real quick now that she’s pregnant. She’d like to believe in the fairy tales and happy endings, but Imogen is grounded and knows that love doesn’t get folk through everything. She’s never been one to waste her time looking for it either; she was too swept up in her youth. She’s independent and is determined to keep it that way now, making a life of her own away from the world her family built for her.

HISTORY: Imogen was the second child born to the Hamilton family. Her parents worked in the business word; her mother as a managing director of a large company and her father as the owner of a luxury hotel that had been in the family for generations. As a child, Imogen rarely saw her parents apart from for family events or public occasions where the family had to sell the loving picture to the outside world. They did love one another, just modern day busy lifestyles meant that Jack and Imogen were raised primarily by their grandmother, Patricia. She was a wonderful woman who taught Imogen how to paint when she was young and then moved on to show her other delicate crafting techniques. Apparently they helped the older woman combat arthritis and kept her busy during the good old days after her husband died. Imogen loved all of it, but her father constantly reminded her that such things were only hobbies.
Imogen did well at school. She made decent grades, had a group of good friends and was forever teasing Jack in the schoolyard. It was a good life and she soon began to develop an artistic personality and a free-spirited nature about herself. In high school, she joined the cheerleading squad and fell right into the role of high school sweetheart, though she had no wonderful boyfriend to tick that final checkbox. Her father insisted that both of his children attended the best college and made them both work hard to make the grades and keep up their golden reputations. He wanted both of his children to take over the hotel when he retired, but Imogen wasn’t particularly interested in it. She loved writing and relaxing with her craftwork that her grandmother still helped her with; the two would have a good chat and exchange modern and old tales together.
As Imogen grew older and senior year kicked off in full swing, she grew to rebel more; swayed by the handsome jocks and out of control hormones that everyone experiences at that age. She snuck out of the house more, partied more and began to really grow into the wild child. She kept all of this secret from her parents, always coming across to them as polite and interesting in the family hotel and keeping her nose clean. Imogen got accepted into the college as her brother and soon wound up on a business course at Harvard University, but unbeknownst to her parents, she minored in journalism too. Her passion was writing and that was what she wanted to do, but for years she had been told what her path was and she couldn’t stray from it. In college, Imogen partied harder than before, but kept her studies ahead of everything else in her life. Really, she just had the college lifestyle like everyone else. Patricia died in Imogen’s junior year, only fuelling the blonde’s love for artistic releases and a weekend long binge in a dive bar the other side of town.
After she graduated, she took a position at the hotel with her brother, learning everything from their father, who was looking forward to spending his golden years with the knowledge his kids wouldn’t screw everything up. Imogen did it all with a smile, but her mind wandered a lot and Jack picked up her slack, knowing his sister did not want to be here doing any of this. Of a weekend, she partied again, sometimes taking off out of LA altogether and heading to ‘Frisco for a weekend of drinking, shopping and reckless fun. Once again, Jack would cover for her with the parents and life stayed like this for another two years.
It was in 'Frisco that Imogen met the charming Peter Carlton; a man slightly older in age but who knew how to charm a girl. Imogen didn't meet him every time she partied in the city, but their encounters were frequent enough. They never became anything serious, but waking up in his hotel room wasn't uncommon either. Their last weekend together though, Imogen discovered a terrible secret that Peter had been keeping from her; he was married. His wife was in Seattle and he came to San Francisco on business every few weeks where he hooked up with the clueless Imogen. She confronted him, calling the whole thing off and giving him a black eye to take home to his wife.
After that weekend, Imogen returned to LA, vowing to make some changes in her life, but the biggest change had already happened. She started feeling woozy and took days off work to just stay in bed. Jack would tell their father she was out on a lunch meeting that overran to save their parents from worrying, but the second Imogen realised she was late, she panicked. The doctor confirmed she was just over a month pregnant and that was the news that turned Imogen’s world upside down. She wasn’t a careless character and she'd never even had a false alarm before. How on earth could she tell her parents that the father of her child was a married businessman from Seattle? They’d disown her for sure. She was supposed to be a good daughter, honest and well behaved; not drinking on weekends and sleeping with random guys she met in bars.
So, she made the decision to run. She spent her last week in LA arranging everything. She had an old high school friend who now lived in New York and Fallon was someone her family probably didn’t have any contact with, since they had only become friends in their senior year, really. She found an apartment, opened a new bank account and transferred her money across to it, applied to change the name on all of her official documents, like her driving licence. Immy adopted her grandmother’s maiden name and finally changed the plates on her ’63 Mercury Comet; the car she couldn’t part with. She spent her last night watching movies with Jack and once he said goodnight, Imogen grabbed her things, left a note that said “I’m sorry”, loaded her car and took off, leaving no way for the family to trace her.
Once in New York, she briefly visited Fallon, telling her about the move for a “new job” and planning to meet up with her soon. Being almost two months pregnant now, Imogen had no real chance of getting a permanent job, but the money she had would keep her steady for a long time and she took up freelance journalism and opened a small online business. The years of crafting with Patricia meant that she could make jewellery, decorations and other little trinkets that made decent gifts. It wasn’t much, but it was something she could do from home and it kept her busy. No one knows yet that she’s pregnant or that she ran away from LA, but Imogen is determined to make this work. She can be a single mom, keep herself going and spare her family the hurt of seeing their daughter’s true colours.
