PERSONALITY: Gage is a fighter and quite relentless when she has something stuck in her mind; there’s no getting her to change her mind. She’s had to be a little tough but for the most part it’s all a show. She has a big personality wrapped up in a petite package. Being emancipated as early as she had been, Gage is obviously independent; she’s had to be. There’s been no one there to take care of her and for so long the only friend she had was her case worker at the social services office. She’s smart having gotten her GED at sixteen and has one college diploma under her belt in radio studies. If she really wanted, she could be a producer, behind the scenes. But she’s too wild for that. Someone once said she had ADHD because she couldn’t sit still but really it was all those ideas, all that need to keep moving forward that had her unable to settle. She had been taking care of herself for so long she didn’t know how to settle. She’s a sweet girl who hasn’t actually let her past experiences turn her jaded though she’s had quite a few trying years. Gage isn’t one for pitying glances so she’d learned young not to tell people anything; it was just easier that way. She is also quite the free spirit, letting things go as they may. She’s not sure if she has a temper to rival the gods but she’s also not really interested in finding out either way. Gage just wants to enjoy life. !

HISTORY: Gage was with her mother for four years before she was taken away. In that time, she broke two bones in as many months; she had too many bruises, even for a hyper toddler and she had suffered through too much already. She was malnourished, well below average height and weight by the time family services took her away and placed her in her first foster home. Even now, Gage doesn’t remember much from the first few homes but the ones she remembers weren’t much better than the home she left. Family services provided Gage with piano lessons which she either had to find her own way to or her social worker took her. It took a while but seven months after her sixteenth birthday, Gage was granted emancipation from the system. She had gone out and gotten herself her GED, she was working full time and had enough saved for first and last on a one bedroom apartment. Her social worker, a woman who had taken care of Gage since the beginning co-signed a lease for her and helped her to get the job she had; as an assistant at a local radio station in Chicago.
The inner workings of the station intrigued Gage so she took some night courses at the community college to better familiarise herself with her surroundings. Assistant at the station was a wide title. In Gage’s case she sat at the front desk, signed for parcels, answered phones and did coffee and food runs whenever needed. Occasionally cleaning up was a part of that title and it was while she was cleaning up after the morning show when she was caught by a producer and the head of the station pretending to be on the air. They had let her continue on pretending to take care of a show before they finally interrupted her. By then she had learned enough about what she was looking at to know which buttons did what. They asked her a series of questions, got her to do what she would if she were on the air and going through the motions of putting songs on, taking calls and all that. From then she didn’t collect packages and only ran for coffee if she was already going out. She was a host on the morning show. The studio had been looking for a change and she was it.
She was young though and still attended school. It was alright since her classes were all in the evening and afternoon and her shift was over by ten. But it also meant that she couldn’t go the party functions or the club nights the other hosts boasted. She could however, go on location during the day and do family friendly things with the station fans. About two years after she’d started working at the station and a year after she’d started on air, the heads of the company came back in. They were starting a new radio station in New York and they were looking in house for the transfers. They approached Gage with an offer of a morning show she could run with one or two others of her choosing since it was clear there weren’t many interested takers in moving to New York and Gage had always been intrigued by the big apple. So at eighteen, Gage packed up her apartment and moved to New York to help start up the new station.
She found a fifth floor walk-up that was a mess but it was cheap and she needed a fast apartment to move into. She helped start up the new studio; she even helped with hiring any new staff that they needed. She worked the morning show with one other person; a man that was her total opposite but they got along well enough. Since she was in New York, and had the time since she hadn’t been legal age yet, Gage went back to school. It took her a year to get there so she started when she was nineteen; a music major. She loved it and now at twenty one, she’s finally able to go to the clubs to promote the station; which is something she loves about her job. She started a “win a date” contest with herself and her co-host and an open concept speed dating night at a local pub. In her junior year she and a classmate decided they both needed a change of scenery and decided to move in together; but that didn’t last long. Thankfully, Gage was secure enough to be able to afford the apartment on her own and kept the pretty apartment. Now Gage is just trying to finish school and get a degree in her major and continue doing more for the radio station she adored so much.
