DISLIKES: Going to her mom's place, losing, being challenged, being preached to, Monday mornings, raspberries, bumping into people from her past, self-help books, ignorant people, arguments, being underestimated, moths, tacky party themes, itchy clothing/bedding, paper bags, misplacing her lip gloss, people routing through her history, police sirens, cold mornings, hangovers, getting sick, cheese, whiskey.
FEARS: moths, going back to the past she escaped, feeling hollow for the rest of her life.
SECRETS: Despite oozing confidence and appearing to have everything, Alice feels like there is something missing from her life. She never speaks about it or acts about it, since she enjoys the strong, formidable appearance she gives off, but in reality she feels like she's missed something, or has failed at something. It often leaves her wondering if it's too late to repair or find whatever it is that she knows is missing from her life.
PERSONALITY: Alice is noticeably cunning. She's quick, highly confident and intelligent, often taking more classes or learning another language to further herself. She's persuasive and charming which makes her excellent at her job and she loves the challenge of capturing a new client. Alice is very stubborn and the kind of girl who will rise to the bait if it's put in front of her. She hates being underestimated and usually goes above and beyond to prove people wrong when it happens. She's competitive and usually quite sly to get that score, and what she really wants most. She's tough and determined and it takes a lot to break her. Alice isn't really someone who anyone ought to mess with. She may appear sophisticated and calm, but revenge is something she can do well and her history is the total opposite of her present. She's independent and rarely accepts help from anyone. Playing mysterious most of the time, Alice could be described as secretive, since she rarely ever talks about her past or even herself beyond the obvious things. She likes taking time to herself with spa days or workouts, just so she can have a break from the world she finally lives in. Alice may appear shallow, perhaps even materialistic to strangers, but she is quite the opposite. She came from nothing and is now grateful for what she has. It's not the most obvious side of her, but Alice is known to help out others, especially around the streets she grew up on. She might seem groomed and ideal, but Alice is not someone who you want to get into a fight with. Alice is scrappy and more than capable of taking care of herself when trouble rises. It takes a lot to really anger her, but when she snaps she really makes sure that she takes down the person who's annoyed her. When it comes to romance, Alice is very flirtatious and gives off that femme fatale attitude. Most of her relationships are fleeting flings and short lived, but Alice would love for someone to come into her busy life and stick around. She thinks it's what she's truly missing from her life, but she doesn't like showing her “weakness” that is her romantic side.MOTHER: Claire Sasha Holmes, 47

SIBLINGS: N/A.
OTHERS: Mason Grant Hopper, 27, best friend since childhood.
PETS: Dawlish, a corgi pup

HISTORY: Claire and Leonard were nothing more than a meaningless fling between a drunk young woman and a man who only saw endless legs when he looked at Claire. There was no emotional connection between them whatsoever. Their time together consisted of bottles of vodka, illegal substances and then careless activities. By the time Claire even realised she was pregnant, Leonard was long gone from her life. Claire didn't even realise she was pregnant until the bump started forming and a trip to the ER with a broken arm led the doctors to run a pregnancy test. By then Claire was already twenty weeks pregnant, but with her reckless lifestyle and bad habits, the baby bump barely grew. Even when she made it full term she still only looked as though she was halfway through her pregnancy. Alice was named after the first nurse Claire noticed on her arrival at the delivery room, her middle name coming from Claire's two “best friends”. Alice was a very small baby, but surprisingly healthy, even with her mother's reckless behaviour.
Claire didn't really want to be a mother. She was only twenty, and she wanted to be out partying and celebrating insignificant things with her friends. Because of this, Alice was usually passed around to whoever was around. If she wasn't crying then she stayed in her crib. The one thing Claire enjoyed about motherhood was the extra help she got for being a single mom. However, the money and tokens went on things to help her forget, rather than on Alice and making sire the baby was healthy. It was a miracle that social workers never stepped in to take the infant away from the careless mom. However, in all the eighteen years that Alice lived with her mother, they never once showed up or knocked on the door; something that still baffles Alice and puts her in great doubt about the system's idea of help.
When she was a little girl, Alice had to learn to take care of herself. She went to school with odd socks, feeble attempts at braids, and usually with none of her homework done. She was at the bottom of her class, struggling behind her classmates who at least got some form of help from their parents at home. Alice, on the other hand, would be shooed to her bedroom and told that all she needed in life was to be pretty and know how to make a White Russian. It was only when Alice got older and the bullying began did she develop a rather great stubborn streak. At the tender age of nine she vowed that she would never end up like her mother and her friends. Alice wanted to be something great, to do something remarkable with her life. It was something that people laughed at, that teachers threw a sympathetic smile at, but Alice was determined. She started watching educational shows on the cheap TV after Claire passed out at night. With her mom's careless attitude to parenting, Claire didn't even notice when Alice was up at 4am, watching documentaries about topics far too old for her. However, they taught her things and after befriending Mason during a silly childish dare, he helped her with homework and understanding the things that she had been struggling with in school.
Mason stuck by her as a friend, even through the tough times, and the year when Alice was known for getting into fights with her classmates. He helped her with school work, gave her a place to hide whenever her mom was on a bender and even bought her small gifts with his allowance to replace things that she owned that had been patched up by her own hands too many times to count. He was more than her best friend, he was the first real idea of family that Alice ever had. If he had dates then they had to get through Alice first before they could start a relationship and he kept the guys from talking trash about Alice in the locker rooms. Claire, on the other hand, would just comment that Alice was becoming “a looker” and kept offering her own ideas of help that seemed to have a similar degrading theme. In Claire's mind, her daughter just needed to look stunning and everything would come to her.
Alice wanted a career that would prove she was more than just her looks. She knew that they had some sway on people, since she could usually torment her own bullies with them once she grew into herself a little more. However, she had a good brain too. Still sticking with her late night education ritual throughout her schooling years, Alice was making straight As in high school, working in the evening as a waitress; a job she loathed, but it helped her buy clothes and put some actual food in the refrigerator; Claire seemed to live on a diet of vodka and pills. She was thinking about college, but Alice's only hope was with scholarships. She was lucky, earning one just in time and for NYU. Claire might have been a waste of a mother, but Alice wasn't ruthless enough to turn her back on her completely. Really, if it hadn't been for Claire's terrible choices and ideas, Alice might not have pushed herself to be all that she could be.
Moving out and into the dorms gave Alice the first break of her life. She lived the student lifestyle like most of her friends, drinking and partying, but she kept a very close lid on what she drank. Alice was never the girl who had to be carried back to the dorms and put to bed by her friends. Mason went to NYU, too, but their time together drifted slightly as their classes took them in opposite directions. Alice had thrown herself into a business and marketing programme, not totally sure of what she wanted at the end of it all, but knowing that it was one of her best options right now. She maintained excellent grades for the sake of her scholarship and really flourished into a confident and powerful young woman.
After graduation, she worked a few entry level jobs before being spotted as having all the natural skills and confidence to be a power broker for a very lucrative position. Alice has more than proved her power in the job, taking to it naturally. The wealth didn't go to her head, but she is now in the nature of splurging as well as saving. She tried to move Claire to a better apartment and clean her up, but Claire just spent the money on her binging habits and remained convinced that Alice only got as far as she did because of her appearance and not because of her mind.
Now, at twenty-seven, Alice is settled into a routine she enjoys. She loves securing more business and influencing people and loves it more when she can make the time to see Mason; her best friend no matter what. On the other hand, Alice feels like while she has everything organised and better than ever, she's still missing something in her life. She just doesn't know where to begin when it comes to looking for it.
