FEARS: Losing Six Feet Under, Tiberius being right all along, no one going to her funeral.
SECRETS: She sleeps with a baseball bat next to her bed and a gun under her mattress. After what happened to Sullivan she doesn’t trust a single soul to leave her alone; especially when she won’t stop trying to tell the truth.
PERSONALITY: Elvira is an angry and bitter woman, pissed off after years of being branded a liar when she’s just wanted justice for her brother; Sullivan. Impatient, she’s never had the ability to wait on anyone or give them a second chance if they screw her over once. She’s feisty and brutal most of the time, but beyond that is a smart yet ruthless businesswoman who treats her rock club as her baby. Elvira is strong and a tough girl, not just because of the losses in her life, but because of how she grew up; gangs, violence, and the wrong side of the tracks is a brief way to sum up her history without going too into it. For those who didn’t know her back then, Elvira can be pretty damn secretive and closed off about the world she came from. She’s abrupt and snarky on a good day, and on a bad day is probably the last person to cross. Her temper is going to one day be her undoing, and she acts like there’s nothing in the world that scares her. She throws her punches before she thinks it over and Elvira is often dragged out of a fight after she starts it. If she were left to finish one then the other person might not walk away at all, forget in one piece. Love is something Elvira lost a long time ago, specifically the day Sullivan died. Since then she’s slept around, making her plays for those who she can manipulate and gain the most from. She became distrusting in her youth when people started calling her a liar, and since then she keeps her heart boxed off. It easier for her to keep things physical and not emotional; so she does.MOTHER: Lydia Leigh Fawkes, deceased
FATHER: Alfonso Gregory Fawkes, deceased.
SIBLINGS: Sullivan Wayne Fawkes, deceased.
OTHERS: Tiberius Deacon Hargreaves, twenty-nine, pain in the ass.
PETS: Negan, bullmastiff of four!
HOMETOWN: Brooklyn, New York.
HISTORY: Lydia and Alfonso were never the best of parents, so after they had Sullivan back in high school, everyone wondered why the hell they even tried for Elvira. The family lived on the wrong side of the tracks, and as the years went by they did little to stop their children falling in with gangs and mixing with the wrong kinds of people. Elvira idolised Sullivan, so when he fell in with bad people and bad ideas it was only a matter of time before she followed suit.
She was a fierce little thing even from a young age, but most of her story began in her early teens. Her and Sullivan rarely ever went to school. They’d skip out and run wild together with a local Brooklyn gang known for causing trouble and dabbling with dealing and crime. Sullivan was two years older than Elvira and a lot more involved than she was, but everyone let her hang around because she was scrappy, easy on the eyes and would definitely be a player with them one day once she was a little older. At fourteen she was already lookout for them, and picking pockets just to have some fun. Another member of this gang was Tiberius Hargreaves. Sullivan was the same age as him and Elvira always considered them to be friends, even when Sullivan said you never had friends; only people you trusted and those you didn’t.
When Elvira was sixteen she hung out a lot more with the gang, but Sullivan was starting to pull away. He kept telling Elvira that things were getting bad, that it was too heavy for him to explain because she would only get hurt. One night he called her to meet him down at the docks because he needed her to know something. She was late getting there because she had been held up by Tiberius trying to flirt with her. When she got there she saw Sullivan with one of the other familiar faces from the gang. She also saw the gun before it was raised to her brother’s head, and the flash as it went off. Sullivan was dead before he hit the floor, and the other guy was gone before Elvira could see where to.
She was done. She tried to tell everyone what had happened. Those who turned up offering their condolences when they were part of the same group responsible for her brother’s death were screamed at. She threw things at them, swore at them and threatened to kill them herself. Then came the nail in the proverbial coffin. Tiberius called her a liar. He called her out at the funeral, too. Said she made the whole thing up in grief. He christened her Eliar and made the gang turn against her before she could turn on it. She vowed to never stop telling the truth, and if they wanted her silent they’d have to kill her, too. Tiberius continued to lead the push that she was a liar, cruelly punishing her with words whenever he saw her until she despised him more than anyone else on the planet. She continued to try to get someone to listen to her, but no one ever did. In the end they just tried to shut her up once and for all.
She was eighteen when a fire was deliberately started in the home. Elvira managed to get out by smashing her window and making it to the fire escape via the drainpipe and some precarious scaling of the brickwork, but her parents were killed in the fire. She knew it had been an attempt on her life and after that she only pushed harder, but was more prepared. She slept with a gun and a bat, and took no chances. With her inheritance she moved to a secure building and basically dared them to come for her. She never stopped going for the truth, knowing that to give up was to let them win and she would sooner die than do that.
The years went by and Elvira found ways to build on the money she had; it was shady business, but it made her wealthy enough to outright buy an underground venue that was on the market for eighteen months and a complete dump. She took another few years to build it up the way she wanted to, stripping it bare and then finding the right people to help her turn it into catacombs and decorate it with faux mythological beings and horrors. Eventually, Six Feet Under was born during her twenty-fifth year. It was a dream of Sullivan’s and hers to open a rock nightclub, something unique and unlike most of the nightclubs in the city. They had spoken about it when they were teenagers in their room at night, talking about names and themes, bands and drinks. She had changed the name to reflect not just Sullivan’s status now, but also the underground location of her club.
Two years after opening night and it thrives. Elvira is a wild owner, because she lives a wild life. She’s reckless, still buried in grief and fighting for the truth. Tiberius shows up more often than she’d like and she can’t smash a bottle over his head though she really fucking wants to. He still taunts her with that old nickname – Eliar – and she still tells him to kill her or admit to the truth that the gang had Sullivan killed for some reason she doesn’t even know. He just tells her that her big mouth will land her in trouble one day, and that she should really be thankful she's not worth a bullet. The only thing she does know is that she won’t stop until she’s in the grave beside her brother.
