SEXUALITY: bisexual.
STATUS: single
GROUP: student
GRADE: junior.

SCARS/BIRTHMARKS: Only silly little ones from roughhousing with his brothers and friends, or from being out on the court.
TATTOOS: From a very close family, Dominic is covered in ink dedicated to those closest to him. He has a portrait of his grandfather from back during WWII, an antique frame with the number 39 for his own good luck, while the frame stands for his grandma, “Rocco” for his little brother,. They adorn his right arm, from forearm to shoulder. He has a set of antlers on his feet to represent constant “shed and growth” that comes with life. He has “Love Good People” in the form of a letter button cross on his left calf. Finally, down his spine he has the names of his dad and two older brothers in Chinese symbols descending from the top of his spine on a scroll with elemental symbols representing the forces of nature that obviously direct everything in life, including the family.
PIERCINGS: None.
PLAY-BY: Nico Tortorella!
LIKES: basketball, corndogs, tattoos, summer barbecues, nightclubs and bars, dogs, dating, New York Knicks, bacon, action movies, dirt bikes, waffles, coffee, Subway sandwiches, football, hats, hair gel, party weekends, drinking games, hitting the gym, energy drinks, music gigs, sporting rivalry, watching the sports channels, baseball, game days, hanging with his brothers, girls in heels, comedy movies, ramen noodles, hoodies, apples, cars, bonfires, plain t-shirts, text messages, loud music, sleeping late, parties, pranks, drunken memorabilia, posters.
DISLIKES: written exams, rich snobs, losing a game, judgemental people, being injured, cranberry juice, celebrity gossip, girly movies, getting sick, Twitter, when sports are ruined by violence, feeling stupid, Daffy Duck, Skrillex, world politics, studying alone, bananas, being the only sober one, intentional bullying, opinionated people, fake girls, “bling”, green tea, spilling food/drink on his shirt, fancy restaurants, wine, feeling inferior to everyone, hangovers in class, tantrums, people who can’t take a joke, forced apologies.
FEARS: A sports-ending injury, having nothing to be proud of when he’s sixty, scorpions..
SECRETS: He came home from his grandma’s when he was four and his mom was gone. He doesn’t know what happened, but his dad was at the table and just said she had gone away and wasn’t coming back. Any time any of the boys asked, it was just “she’s gone.”.
PERSONALITY: With basketball being his reason for getting out of bed since he was a young teenager, it’s safe to say that Dominic is athletic to the core. He’s a friendly guy who has a habit of being something of a joker with the people in his life. Not all of them go down too well, but his playful insults are never meant to hurt, but sometimes he’s oblivious to the pain his words or pranks could cause. He’s outgoing and more than ready for a last minute party plan or a weekend spent drifting from bars to clubs. He’s quite the flirt when he wants to be and sweet too. He prefers simplicity over extravagance, so you’re more likely to find him taking a date somewhere casual and easy than to some fancy restaurant where the breadsticks cost more than his rent! He’s family-orientated and can’t even begin to think about anything happening to the small family he’s extremely close to. He can be defensive about a few choice things in his life like his family, wealth or his intelligence. He’s not the sharpest tool in the box, but he doesn’t believe that should make people treat him differently or talk down to him. He tends to channel any anger into sports or workouts at the campus gym, so more often than not he’s the peace-keeper and the one to step in before an argument can turn into a flurry of fists. He doesn’t have the time for anything more than a friendly sporting rivalry. He’s daring at times and given any challenge he will take it on without a doubt. He has a knack for landing himself in trouble without intentionally meaning to, but he’s also got that charisma to talk himself out of it as “one of the guys”.

HISTORY: Dominic was the third son born to the Mirallas family, who seemed to have an energetic group of little boys running around the small house already. This brood only grew with Rocco’s birth when Dominic was three. They were all happy, innocent little kids who were forever teasing and taunting each other for as long as any of them could remember, but they were still close as brothers.
When Dominic was four, his grandparents dropped him and his brothers back off at home after a morning at the carnival and a lunch at their quaint little house across town. They all entered the kitchen to see his father sitting at the table with a cigarette and a sour look on his face. This was the day that Antonio told them all that Grace, their mother, was “gone”. Peter sent the children into the back yard to play while the adults spoke about what that meant, but the little boys got no further answer to the question, no matter how many times they prodded and poked at Antonio for answers. Everything about Grace was gone from the house; her clothes, photographs and even the trinkets she had on top of the television cabinet.
There were nights when one of the boys would cry for their mom, but slowly the family moved on. They didn’t have a lot to boast about and they were closer to poverty on the scale of wealth, but Antonio had a small hardware store that he had inherited after Peter retired, so that kept them afloat along with additional funding for the boys. Without the luxury of gadgets and gaming consoles for every birthday and Christmas the boys made the most of what they had and often spent the afternoons after school roughhousing in the back yard.
It was in the backyard that Scott, after earning his place on the school football team as a Linebacker, taught his younger brothers how to play and Dominic first began to develop his love for sports. All the brothers and their father watched the sports channels whenever the TV was on in their house and soon his love for basketball formed. Each brother seemed to have a sport they loved, but none of them seemed to be as enthusiastic as Dominic. He would literally fall asleep with a basketball instead of a teddy bear and it really came as no surprise when he played for the school team. His older brothers had their other hobbies too; Scott enjoyed world politics and Paul adored spending hours building things or doing the repairs around the house. Rocco had a passion for art, but Dominic was all about his sports. Academically, he didn’t do great. In fact, he struggled a lot of the time, even when he did pay attention to what the teachers were telling him. He knew what he was trying to do, but somewhere between thinking it and writing it something went wrong.
He was a pretty popular kid too, and what he couldn’t achieve in grades, he made up in jokes. His brothers were forever pulling pranks around the house when they weren’t playing outside with some form of a ball or wrestling in the dirt, so Dominic had those bases covered pretty well. He was forever coming up with a comical quip or silly prank to play on his friends and classmates. He never set out to hurt or bully anyone, but he was always classed with the clique of kids who did sometimes cross a line and bring someone to tears. If he was around when that happened he tried to help, but Dominic wasn’t there all the time and sometimes people hid their tears for the bathroom or until they got home. He felt awful if he did upset anyone, but he still kept up with his jokes and games, believing that everyone could do with a bit of fun and laughter from time to time, especially in school.
Obviously, basketball took priority over everything else in his life. He was dedicated, hardworking and a damn good player. They only really got to see the games of any of their favoured sports on the television since tickets were too pricey for their father to buy, but they didn’t complain. There was something great about being gathered in their small living room with the soda cans, popcorn and food too greasy to be healthy, cheering and chanting along with the screen as if they were actually there.
When Scott left for college in New Jersey, Dominic found himself thinking more about his own life. He didn’t have the perfect grades of his older brother and while he could scrape by in the lower percentage of his class, he didn’t want to have to spend the rest of his life in some minimum wage job. He tried studying harder, spent a few late nights hunched over textbooks inherited from his older brothers, but he didn’t suddenly fly to the top of his class. A few Cs became Bs here and there, but it was still clear that his talents laid in the world of athletics and not academia.
In the end it was his talents on the court that calmed his worries. During the closing games of the season, a scout approached him and told him that there might be a place for him at NYU. With a little more hard work both on the court and in the classroom, Dominic secured himself the scholarship and the weight was lifted from his shoulders as his dad proudly boasted around the small village about his success. He packed up his things and moved to the city, living on campus for the first two years in the dorms, playing the game he loved the most and majoring in Sports Science, since it was a subject he could actually understand, even when the more complex biology bits left him blinking blankly from time to time. With a job at Tribeca Cinema, Dominic saved up his money and eventually had enough to rent a small apartment comfortably just off campus; he still wanted to be close to the gym! Living the typical college kid lifestyle, Dominic is loving every minute of being young and is still wondering about what the future might bring for him.
