Lottie was the spitfire of the McAllister siblings. She had never been able to hold anything back. Everyone who knew her knew exactly when she was pissed off or when she was happy about something; she told them flat out how she was feeling! Hell, even people who didn’t know her could tell what kind of mood she was in. But she had always been that way, too open for her own good and she’d never been able to fix that. Though like her brother’s she had that mile wide McAllister stubborn streak, always wanting to do everything on her own, even if it was obvious she couldn’t. When she was younger, she would fight that she didn’t need help and only accepted some when it was forced on her. Even now she wasn’t good at accepting help and she still won’t ask people for any unless it was something trivial like searching out a birthday gift.
Her entire life, Lottie looked up to her brothers. There had been no better role models for the petite fighter. They’d always been smart, athletic and had just enough of a reckless streak to dare each other to do stupid things and actually follow through. When she’d been old enough, she’d joined in though they fought her about it just because she was a girl and didn’t want her walking into school the next day with a black eye. Not that it had been up to them. If perhaps their mother had still been around, Lottie might have turned out differently, but with the only female role models around being a particularly nosey neighbour and the women at the restaurant, she didn’t have a hope in hell to turn out all that girly. And thank god for that! Lottie was sure if she’d had people telling her no at every turn she would have turned out far worse than she had. But her brother’s egged her on and her father never said no to a stunt unless it really was too stupid to pull off. Of course, what the man didn’t know, wouldn’t hurt him and she’d only come away from a stunt twice with a broken arm or leg and a couple dozen times needing minor medical attention. She wasn’t reckless, she was adventurous.
“You’re still an ass but thanks.” She said by way of apology for her part in their little tiff. She wouldn’t outright say she was sorry when she wasn’t and didn’t feel like she should be but then, it was rare either of them actually used the proper words to apologise to the others. It was usually picking up a dinner or drinks check or picking up a series, game or something else the other wanted. Only when they pulled a stunt that meant they really, royally screwed up, did they ever use the words. And the last time Lottie could remember that happening it had been Gavin and she’d been fourteen. After all that time, she couldn’t remember the specifics anymore but she remembered the words “I’m sorry” pass her other brother’s lips like it had been only yesterday.
Like her brothers with her, Lottie didn’t like to see her siblings hurt. They might have fought like champions against each other when someone pissed off another but they were always there for each other, too; which was why Kael hadn’t told them. Lottie could admit to understanding that. If someone she thought she would bring home to meet the family, marry and maybe have kids with went and did that to her, she wouldn’t have outright told her family either; they’d probably kill the poor bastard. She was petite and didn’t look like she could do any harm but she was a fighter and knew more about martial arts than most but she was also the baby of the family and the only girl. If someone messed with her and her brothers found out, it wasn’t usually just her they had to deal with, it was them, too. Even though Lottie could understand why she was only finding out by accident now, she didn’t have to like it and she wouldn’t but she also wouldn’t go around telling everyone about it either. “I got some of your favourites.”
