DISLIKES: her past, splitting her time between her parents, crime documentaries, people shouting in the night, performing (now), screaming children, bug bites, tuna, banana milkshake, getting hairspray in her mouth, dark chocolate, dirty mirrors, her college classes, The Fly, skin peeling, when a nap turns into a sleep.
FEARS: Growing old, her past haunting her forever, giant bugs.
SECRETS: She’s scared of getting back up on a stage and chasing her musical dreams again after choices in her past led to the media ripping her apart and tearing her down so much that her last show bombed and her record contract was voided because of all the drama. It was horrific and it’s taken her long enough to get back to going out alone without needing the security of friends of family to bumper her.
PERSONALITY: These days , Clark is a frustrated young woman. Just about everything gets under her skin and lingers there until she’s ready to explode. She’s talented but hides that talent now and keeps it for when she simply can’t contain her emotions anymore; even then it’s an intimate personal thing that she keeps to herself. She’s bitter after losing her chance and because she lost her confidence from it. She’s deeply passionate, but tries to keep herself these days because she’s afraid of getting hurt again. Clark has been heartbroken; shattered actually. She bottles up a lot now and has put up quite a few defensive walls in recent years, unsure of who she can trust again now. Clark can be unintentionally cruel because of those factors, but she’s usually one to come crawling with an apology later rather than sooner. When it comes to her temper, or someone crossing her, Clark is the type to go straight to the source and confront them. She isn’t always aggressive, but she will let someone know that’s she’s upset with them one way or another. Romance has left her with a sour taste and these days she’s more likely to be a reckless romantic getting drunk before she’ll do anything now and then it’s usually a one night stand or a make out session in a night club with someone she knows she shouldn’t put her hands on. She would love to have something more in her life, but honestly she’s still bruised and hurting after what happened with her last relationship. Right now Clark feels safer with something she knows isn’t going to last and comes without the strings attached. Someone needs to change that.MOTHER: Alana Mary Munro, 46.

HISTORY: Alana and Desmond met through a private museum opening. Alana worked for the British Museum as a curator and Desmond was there as a guest with a friend. Their whole relationship was a whirlwind that resulted in a surprise pregnancy. They tried to do the ‘right thing’ and got married before the baby was born, but things were so badly thought through and unplanned. Desmond was from Las Vegas originally and he needed to continue working from there so his time was split between London and Vegas, which did not set good foundations for building a relationship. What made matters worse was that Alana was very much a career woman who wanted to have the shortest time away from her job at the museum as possible. Clark was born in the spring and her parents ultimately ended up divorcing just before she turned four.
After that Clark’s life was divided in every way. She went to school in London, one of the best academies that Alana could find, but she spent all of her term holidays in Vegas with her father. Alana wasn’t big on bonding with her daughter for the most part. She pushed Clark into learning instruments and being creative purely to keep her from rebelling, but Clark grew up in a quiet London townhouse with mostly herself for company, and a cleaner who came in every other day and often stayed later than she needed to so that Clark came home from school to someone and could have some kind of attention. It wasn’t much, only around an hour where they shared a hot chocolate and spoke about their day, but it was something nice when the winter came around and the walk home from her school was cold and wet. Vegas life was more exciting, but only ever short lived. Desmond doted on his daughter when she was there and spoilt the pants off her. Her thought she was capable of taking over the world if she wanted to and they had all kinds of adventures together. It wasn’t just Vegas either, but he took her to places around the world for holidays and trips so that they could bond. They video chatted when she was in London, and called as much as they could, but her life was very divided and it wasn’t at all fun for her.
Music was her only outlet. She was incredibly talented and worked hard to make that her best subject because it was hr passion. She didn’t have too many friends because she spent her school holidays away from London which meant everyone sort of left her behind. Clark wrote all her feelings down and turned them into songs because she felt that was all she could do. It got her attention though. People at school noticed her in the music rooms and on the small stage when she had the chance to perform in school assemblies. She wanted this to be her future because she wanted to inspire. When music was all she had on the bad days she wanted those songs to be able to help others one day who might be feeling something similar. Alana wanted something more ambitious and serious and thought Clark was living with a stupid dream bubble, but Desmond was proud of his daughter and wanted her to follow her heart.
Clark was sixteen and spent a lot of her time on the music circuit after her sixth form classes wrapped for the day. She sometimes did open mic nights, but often was listening to the up and coming acts, finding out her favourites and seeking advice from those about to break through to the charts. It was at one of these nights that she met Brent Manson. He was the singer of a band who were playing the sets and who had just been signed to a record label. She asked him for advice about getting out there, making herself more known, and he gave her some advice before asking her to come and do the female vocals on a track he had just written for the group. They wanted to collab with someone who was relatively new and she fitted the part perfectly. She was so excited and she hit the studio with Brent to record the track. It helped that he was as attractive as he was helpful, and the short time together was sealed with a kiss and an invitation for something more. A quiet relationship flourished, and when the band decided they wanted to release the song with Clark as one of their singles, it charted high and opened so many doors for her as she was wrapping up her studies. The band was ready to tour and they invited Clark along as a support act as she was signing with their label, too. They figured it would be amazing exposure for her, a brilliant way to perform the song during their own set, and Brent wanted his girl on the road with them for their first arena tour.
It was incredible, and Clark loved every moment of it. It might not have been a sellout thing, and she was still an unknown, but the crowd, the lights and everything else was just so incredible. He heard everyone screaming for Brent and the other boys who she was getting to know so exceptionally well. It was amazing, and Clark was in love with Brent. He was her first love, and she was head over heels for him. He didn’t quite feel the same way. Or he did, but then the fame got the better of him and he broke her heart in the worst way. She found him with a fan and it killed her. They had never made a public show of their relationship because that wasn’t their ‘thing’, but after that the gloves came off. Brent tried to play it off, say it was just a meaningless thing after a show when she was signing autographs and meeting her own fans out by the arena gates, but Clark was devastated when he shrugged as she asked if there had been anyone else. As always she put her feelings into a song and ended up pushing that forward because it was how she was feeling. Everything sort of blew up in her face. Rumours began flying everywhere, but Brent would not own up to what had happened or take any of the blame. Instead he called Clark crazy, labelled her as obsessed and out of control and the media sided with the more famous of the duo, rather than listen to the pain of the girl who was desperately heartbroken and hurting. It cost her everything. The label dropped her because of the bad press and the trouble between her and the band, and she saw lines such as Clark Raving Mad staring at her from websites. It destroyed her.
She ended up going home to London where her mother, with the tiniest sympathy, recommended she chose something with more stability and fixed her head on straight for once. Clark wanted more than a ‘get your act together’ speech, but she needed to do something with her life and there were no other options. She didn’t want to stay in London, or England though. The country branded her wild and crazy. Instead she called her dad and chose to go to an American college, ultimately settling on NYU, and a Communications course there. Desmond wanted her to reignite her love for music, trying to get her to see that there was always a second chance, but Clark was too scared of being hurt again. She ended up keeping her music and her songwriting as a personal, intimate thing no one stateside knew about, and focused instead on a set of classes she didn’t even like, but could give her a future at the end where she wouldn’t be red flagged by the media just because someone was more famous than she was and told a different story. Clark is still scared of putting herself back out there, and hides behind reckless relationships that mean nothing, and classes that bore her to tears.
